Best Cities to find a Job in France - 2025
When looking for a job, several factors need to be considered. Choosing a field that suits your profile is one of them. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is therefore essential in your job search. Let's imagine you're a programmer. Then there's bound to be a programming language you know better than others. If you're an excellent Java programmer, then looking for a Java position makes sense. The same goes for cities, some cities are better suited then others for specific types of jobs. This is what we will explore in this article.
The general State of the Labor Market in France
As of late 2025, the French labor market shows a mixed picture. Overall employment growth has slowed significantly compared with previous years, with fewer new job openings and lower hiring projections — companies planned around 2.43 million recruitments in 2025, about 12 % less than in the previous year, according to France Travail
Tech Labor Market
The tech and digital economy also remains an important part of the labor market: digital and technology-related roles (e.g., software development, data specialists, cybersecurity professionals) continue to show demand, although recruiters report ongoing skill shortages in IT profiles. However, the broader picture in tech isn’t uniformly strong: many companies are more selective, and recruitment processes can be slow or stringent, contributing to a more difficult job search environment in some segments of the economy.

Which cities have the Most Jobs Overall?
Paris
According to the data available to us, Paris remains the top location for job offers in France. Out of a total of 3056 jobs in France listed on our site as of Monday, December 22nd, 629 Offers are located in Paris, representing 20.5% of the total job offers in France.
Lyon
Lyon comes in second place with 280 Offers, or 9.16% of the total Offer.
Rennes, Toulouse, Grenoble
Rennes and Toulouse are also well-positioned in the ranking of French cities with 58 and 56 job offers respectively (approximately 1.9% each). To my surprise, large cities like Marseille seem to be declining and have fewer job offers than smaller but apparently more dynamic cities like Grenoble (41 offers).
The industries with the most Job openings
According to data on our site, the tech sector is the largest recruiter, accounting for over 30% of total job postings. This is followed by administration/human resources with 14.4% of total postings, and then engineering with 9%. Marketing and finance appear to be lagging behind, representing only 3% and 1.5% of total postings respectively.
